EUROPEAN U23 CHAMPIONSHIPS The European U-23 Championships 2009 were arranged for the first time (!)by the Polish WF in the city of Wladyslawovo medio October. Among the women Finland entered two athletes. In cat. 58 kg Anna Everi achieved a very good 5th place in total making 78-96=174 kg. In cat. 63 kg Jenny Puputti got place 8 with 76-90=166 kg. Among the men Finland entered two athletes in cat. 85kg: Miika Annti-Roiko ended up with 137-177=314 kg, place 11, and Jere Johansson got 117-154=271 kg, place 15. On the last day of the competition Teemu Roininen from Finland did a nice performance in the +105 kg cat. through 150-187=337 kg and place 10. The NTF congratulates the above mentioned athletes.
NORDIC SENIOR AND U23 CHAMPIONSHIPS 2009 The Nordic Senior and U23 Championships this year was held at Naustdal, approx. 200 km from Bergen, in Western Norway on September 26. Best lifter among the women was Ruth Kasirye(NOR) and Jim Gyllenhammar (SWE) became the best male lifter. EUROPEAN YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIPS The European Youth Championships 2009 were arranged by Israel WF in the city of Eliat medio September. In cat. 69kg Bawar Sadi, Sweden, placed 15 by 91-122=213 kg. Milko Tokola, Finland, unfortunately bombed out in snatch but achieved strongly 140 kg in clean & jerk. In cat. 77 kg Oscar Svensson from Sweden made an excellent performance with 107-145=252 kg, placing 12. Robert Pirkkio, Finland, followed closely with 104-127=231 kg (place 14) and Kimmo Lehtikangas, Finland, 103-125=228 kg (place 15). Finally in cat. 94 kg Sindre Rörstadsbotnen, Norway also performed well with 108-147=255 kg (place 5). Samuli Rantanen, Finland, did 102-134=236 kg, place 12. The NTF congratulates the above mentioned athletes.
